Unsurpassed organic micro greens from Bath, NY now available

Thunder Mountain Foods was a natural offshoot of the PeaceWeaver Organic Farm and CSA, which have been in operation since 1995. Some of the (all organic) products they grow include pea shoots, pak choi, purple cabbage, purple mustard, purple and pink radish microgreens, basil, corn shoots, amaranth and swiss chard. All of these great products are now avilable from Regional! Tossed together or layered,  they make a wonderful salad. Individually they provide many opportunities to add excitement to your favorite dishes.Thunder Mountain Retreat Sanctuary is a mediation and retreat center in Bath, NY. Their inspiration for their greens comes from a Buddhist monk named Bhante Dharmawara who lived to be 110 years old. He was a meditation teacher and healer who reminded them again and again that “our health is our greatest possession, and without it we cannot serve ourselves or others!”

Another great NYS made cheese has arrived

We dove right into this one as soon as it arrived. Using a Tribeca rustic batard and some eggplant caponota, with Jake’s smoked gouda to top it off… Oh my! It was a poor man’s pizza, Regional Access style. Jake’s Gouda Cheese is handmade traditionally with guidance directly from the Netherlands.True Gouda needs to breathe – it is turned daily, to ensure uniform aged perfection for at least sixty days. Gouda also isn’t pasteurized at high temperatures, it is heated, but still a raw milk cheese. The results…one of New York’s finest traditional style Gouda cheese!

May Specials from Regional Access

The Mohawk Valley is the area surrounding the Mohawk River, running from east of Syracuse towards the Hudson River near Albany. Long a bastion of commerce and farming dating back to the Iroquois era, we are thrilled to highlight some small batch producers who call this area home this month. In addition we have a promo on NYC produced slaws, k’chup and a new Extreme Green energy shot from Bad Ass Organics.

Lazy Crazy Acres gelato is coming in May!

ooh…. We can’t wait for this one to land. Our office staff tried a couple of flavors months ago, and had to wait impatiently for spring to come. Currently, Lazy Crazy Acres is home to “lovely grass eatin’-mountainside wanderin’ heifers and a brand spankin’ new creamery situated right inside our historic barn!” Like all gelatos, Lazy Crazy Acres has a terrific mouth feel and less fat than regular ice cream. What sets this one apart is the small batch production that is based on a upstate New York family farm: everything from the milking of the cows to the packaging of the gelato is done by the DiBenedetto and Fairbairn families. Samples are available on a first come, first served basis, and the first deliveries happen the week of 4/30/12.
