We are proud to announce our continued support for Healthy Food for All, which is a non-profit program of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County. They will provide over 600 boxes of fresh locally grown produce throughout Tompkins County during the month of May to people in need. Approximately a third of the boxes will also contain locally produced eggs, beans, grains and nuts for home-bound, high-risk and food-insecure elders, individuals, and families to provide essential micro and macro nutrients required for a healthy diet.
Now in the eighth week of New York State’s PAUSE order, access to fresh, local, healthy food is more difficult than ever. This could be due to a loss of household income, limited access to transportation services, high risk individuals choosing to stay home, etc. For many rural families this leaves access to supermarkets, food pantries, and community agencies out of reach. This is where Healthy Food for All steps in to help those struggling with food insecurity.
Please consider donating to this cause by visiting Healthy Food For All’s website at www.HealthyFoodForAll.org/donate/ or by check made payable to Healthy Food For All and mailed to Cooperative Extension – Attn: HFFA, 615 Willow Ave, Ithaca NY 14850.
We here at Regional Access believe that every human being should have access to healthy, fresh, local foods, and would like to thank Healthy Food For All for helping to make that a possibility!
